Janine - the path & the practice
Yoga has been a quiet thread woven through every season of my life. Each time I step into a teaching space, I feel a simple, profound gratitude to witness people arriving more fully into themselves, to hold a room where breath, attention and presence gather into something shared and alive.
My path began as a young woman, when I first sensed the numinous shimmering beneath ordinary reality. That early recognition - that life held unseen depth and intelligence - opened a lifelong devotion to the inner journey. I became a student not only of yoga but of consciousness itself: human nature, subtle perception and the mystery of how awareness meets the world.

Hakini philosophy
The philosophical root of my work lies in Tantrik Yoga, a path of sacred integration for those fully woven into the world. Tantra does not turn away from life; it consecrates it. Relationship, responsibility, creativity and embodiment become the ground of awakening. Nothing is excluded, everything belongs.
Practice becomes participation in the living weave of reality. Through breath, movement, stillness and attention, we cultivate strength with tenderness and discipline with compassion. The body becomes a site of revelation. Awareness becomes an act of care.
Over time, this path opened into a deepening communion with the feminine wisdom stream, an initiatory current carried through myth, symbol and lived experience, where knowing ripens through the heart.
I feel this lineage in the priestess figures who walk between worlds: Inanna in descent, Isis in devotion, Magdalene in faithful love. Their stories are not distant myths but inner maps of descent and return, loss and illumination. Myth becomes mirror, experience becomes initiation.
From this current, the Rose Path emerged to me, a priestess path of embodied presence.
Hakini Yoga arises at this meeting point: Tantric embodiment, contemplative perception, and inner revelation.
It’s the practice of seeing clearly through the awakened heart and it’s my honour to walk beside those who feel called to this path.
Qualifications & Lineage
My teaching stands within a living lineage of practice, shaped by devoted study, embodied experience and guidance from teachers whose wisdom continues to inform my path.
Foundational Training
I completed my foundational teacher training with Jo Lockhart in Glasgow. This grounding established an integrative, intelligent approach to practice honouring alignment, breath awareness and the subtle relationship between physical form and inner attention.
Advanced Study & Mentorship
My path deepened through advanced trainings with two of the most respected female elders in Western yoga:
Janet Stone - whose devotional approach to practice, mantra and mythology revealed yoga to me as a living spiritual art.
Sianna Sherman - whose mythic storytelling and sacred feminine teachings shaped my relationship with symbolism, initiation and the deeper currents of practice.
Through these lineages, my teaching has been formed not only technically but philosophically and devotionally, guided by teachers who unite disciplined craft with devotional depth.
